Sofya is a Central Asia advisor. Her primarily responsibility is Small Grants projects in Central Asia  

Sofya worked for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the United Nations Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Studying the region for the past ten years has given me a good understanding of its pressing issues, I would like to be practically involved with the ongoing and future projects developed by the brave and active civil society”. 

Sofya is a PhD candidate in Political Science at Oxford Brookes University and holds an MA degree in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of Geneva.  She was a visiting researcher at Harvard University (2018) and political consultant at the SIAR Agency in Bishkek (2017). Her research has been published in Problems of Post-Communism and Theorizing Central Asian Politics: The State, Ideology and Power (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019).
